Consultation Fees
From 28 January 2019, all patients except DVA (Department of Veteran Affairs) Gold cardholders will be privately billed for consultations. This means there will be no bulk billing and the out of pocket costs / gap payment will be roughly $12.

The preferred method of payment is EFTPOS (savings/cheque). Visa and Mastercard credit card payments may attract a 0.5% surcharge. If you have registered your bank details with Medicare, your Medicare claim can be electronically transmitted and the Medicare rebate will be directly transferred to your bank account.

DVA Gold cardholders will continue to be bulk billed with no gap to pay because we recognise their service to Australia.

Reason for Change
Over the years, Medicare rebates have either been frozen or increased at rates below inflation. At the same time, the costs of running a medical practice and providing high quality healthcare have increased at a faster rate. This is unfortunately not sustainable.
